Research

Dr. Cardenas's research focuses on intimate partner violence (IPV) in marginalized communities, particularly within the Latine/x population, with the goal of developing culturally responsive, trauma-informed interventions. To this end, her work centers on three primary areas: (1) the development and cross-cultural adaptation and validation of measurement instruments; (2) understanding the factors influencing formal disclosure and service engagement after IPV victimization; and (3) advancing innovative and culturally responsive interventions.
